ABOUT THE OWNER
Dr. Kary A. Johnson is a bilingual reading specialist and owner of The Reading Connection, a private reading clinic she started in 2003.
Dr. Johnson's Education:
B.A. in International Relations/Spanish from TCU in 1999
M.Ed. from Texas Wesleyan University in Reading and Bilingual Education in 2003
Ed.D., Texas Wesleyan University in 2013 Curriculum and Instruction Dissertation: Multicomponent Treatment of Rapid Naming, Reading Rate, and Visual Attention in Single and Double Deficit Dyslexics.
Prior to starting The Reading Connection, Dr. Johnson was an elementary bilingual and ESL teacher. She was also a reading specialist and the language arts curriculum coordinator K-12 at the district level in the Texas public school system. Kary also serves as an adjunct professor of Education at Texas Wesleyan University and UTA.
Currently, Dr. Johnson continues to own and operate The Reading Connection, while serving as Board President of 501c3 Literacy United, a related nonprofit created to serve struggling readers in the Tarrant County area who cannot afford the cost of private reading therapy.
